A new addition to the château, the Countess Pauline Room embodies a more contemporary vision of refinement, while respecting the historical soul of the place. Recently created in the main building, it subtly combines modernity, comfort, and light .
Its unique atmosphere is enhanced by two antique chandeliers that diffuse a warm and generous light, highlighting the volumes and the delicacy of the chosen materials. The open bathroom , designed as a natural extension of the bedroom, offers a fluid and original experience, ideal for lovers of distinctive interiors.
This room was designed for those seeking an elegant, bright and decidedly personal experience within an exceptional heritage setting.
The Countess's Story
Pauline de Sales (1786-1852), Countess of Roussy, powerfully and dignifiedly embodies the end of an illustrious lineage. The only daughter of the Count of Sales, she experienced the upheavals of the Revolution from childhood, exiled to Turin and then sent to boarding school near Geneva, while her mother fought for the restitution of the family property.
Wife of Félix de Roussy , prefect under the Restoration, she witnessed his withdrawal from public life out of loyalty to Charles X. Thanks to the tenacious efforts of her family, the castle of Thorens was bought back, thus preserving a precious heritage.
Pauline passed away before her husband obtained, in homage to their name, royal authorization to found the Roussy de Sales line , sealing the memory of a noble house between monarchical loyalty and patrimonial transmission.
