The Countess's Story
Pauline de Sales (1786-1852), Countess of Roussy, embodies with strength and dignity the end of an illustrious line. The only daughter of the Count of Sales, she lived through the upheavals of the revolution from childhood, exiled to Turin then to a boarding school near Geneva, while his mother fought for the restitution of family property.
Wife of Felix de Roussy, prefect under the Restoration, she witnessed his withdrawal from public life out of loyalty to Charles X. Thanks to the tenacious efforts of his family, the Château de Thorens was bought back, thus preserving a precious heritage.
Pauline died before her husband obtained, in homage to their name, royal authorization to found the line. from Roussy de Sales, sealing the memory of a noble house between monarchical loyalty and heritage transmission.
