The Marquise de Grollier Room celebrates the memory of Charlotte Eustache Sophie de Fuligny-Damas , a remarkable 18th-century woman known for her artistic sensibility, elegance, and quiet commitment . Born into the high aristocracy, she moved in the intellectual circles of Versailles, where she developed a passion for botanical painting , guided by the great masters of her time.
The Revolution dramatically altered her destiny: widowed after her husband's execution, she went into exile in Italy. There, she pursued her art with restraint, drawing profound peace from nature. Upon returning to France, she retired to Épinay-sur-Seine, dividing her time between creating, gardening, and charitable works.
