The Countess's Story
Born in 1875 , Blanche Carrelet de Loisy d'Arcelot became Countess of Thorens by marrying François-Noël de Roussy de Sales in 1896. From an influential family, she was the daughter of the Marquis d'Arcelot , an artillery officer and Knight of the Legion of Honour , and the granddaughter of Édouard Carrelet de Loisy , a politician committed to the service of rural territories.
On her mother's side, her industrial roots are exemplified by figures such as Jean Ménans , ironmaster, and Marie-Joséphine Liautey , founder of a Catholic school still active today. At the crossroads of aristocracy, social commitment , and religious heritage , Blanche embodies a generation of cultured, discreet women, faithful to their values.
The White Countess Room pays homage to her, in a spirit of grace, memory and refinement.
