For a peaceful vacation in Haute-Savoie

If the bustle of Annecy and the hustle and bustle of the surrounding ski resorts don't suit your pace, Haute-Savoie can be much wiser. A stay at Château de Thorens is an ideal alternative if you're looking for a quiet vacation or a weekend in the countryside.

This environment, ideal for unplugged vacations, is a key concern for our team, who have always encouraged activities in the great outdoors, such as fishing or picnics by the river.

5 zen places to discover in Haute-Savoie

In the area around Château de Thorens, here are a few suggestions for outings to enjoy alone, with friends or family during your next stay in the region.

At the summit of the Aravis Range

The Aravis mountain range is a fantastic playground for climbing and hiking aficionados, but also for... aerial escapades. What could be more relaxing than admiring the paragliders silently drifting away in the wind after a ride at an altitude of over 2,500 meters?

On the shores of Lake Annecy

Just a stone's throw from Menthon Saint-Bernard, the Roc de Chère Reserve is a veritable jewel of greenery overlooking Lake Annecy. In recent months, nature has reclaimed its rights: vegetation, birds and wild animals are more numerous, to the delight of hikers.

Le pas du Roc

Le Pas du Roc is a hike in the Haute-Savoie region offering a unique experience on a path cut into the side of a cliff in 1830. The route, which is relatively short but steep at first, leads to a waterfall and Champ Laitier. The section of trail before the Pas du Roc is vertiginous and secured by wooden steps and a cable. The hike, which is ideal in dry weather, takes around 3 hours round trip, with an ascent of 660 m.

The Diau cave

Located in the eastern cliffs of the Parmelan in Haute-Savoie, it is accessible via a medium-difficulty hike with a 180 m vertical drop. The hike lasts about half a day and includes some cabled sections. The cave, impressive in its dimensions, is a labyrinth requiring caution and appropriate equipment (lamp, shoes, helmet). We advise you not to venture too far without a professional guide.

Le Parmelan

The Parmelan is an iconic hike in Haute-Savoie, offering spectacular panoramic views from its towering cliffs. The Grand Montoir trail, although secured by chains and handrails, has aerial passages that may impress those prone to vertigo. A safety rope is recommended for young hikers. The proposed route starts at the Bois Brûlé parking lot and descends via the easier Petit Montoir. The Parmelan plateau is marked by intense erosion, with faults, chasms and lapiaz.
